St George’s Hotel, Llandudno, North Wales, 6th and 7th December 2010
2010 marks the 10th anniversary of the Seattle Club. Richard Hastings has been involved in the organisation of all nine previous conferences and is finally hosting the conference in the beautiful North Wales seaside resort of Llandudno. We have tried to make the venue for the 10th anniversary “special” at the same time as keeping the cost as low as possible. The St George’s is a 4* hotel offering a cosy atmosphere for a working conference like ours.
Registration fees are £90 per person to include conference registration (two days), lunches, refreshments, and evening meal on Monday 6th December (no registration fee discount is available for single day registration or registration without the evening meal). Registration and payment is via the following website where credit card payment details will be required.

Following the well established tradition of the 'Seattle Club' conferences:
St George’s Hotel, this year’s conference venue, was the first luxury hotel built in Llandudno in 1854. It is 5 minutes walk from Llandudno Railway Station, and is easily accessible from Junction 19 off the A55 expressway. Llandudno is accessible by direct trains from Manchester, and is only a few minutes on the branch line from Llandudno Junction (which is on the mainline rail link to Holyhead from Euston, and on the South-North route within Wales).
You must book your own accommodation in Llandudno. We have secured a preferential room rate starting at £70.00p.p B&B for Seattle Club attendees at the St George’s Hotel. Please mention that you are attending the Seattle Club to get this special rate.
Alternative accommodation in the nearby area can be recommended by the Wales Tourist Information Centre : Library Building, Mostyn Street, Llandudno, Tel: 01492 577577 Email: llandudnotic@conwy.gov.uk
There are lots of accommodation options within a few minutes walk of the St George’s, including other hotels and cheaper options such as B&Bs. Traveladvisor may be a good place to start. Walking around Llandudno is easy and safe.
Registration Details and Costs
On-line Submission of Abstracts
Studentships for 2010 Seattle Club Studentships are intended for PhD students at the beginning of their projects and similar 'early stage' researchers (including clinicians developing their research, trainees in professions related to intellectual disabilities, research assistants on new projects, etc.). Such individuals will be interested in and committed to research in the field but will not yet have completed a study from which they can present data (and whose name therefore does NOT appear on a poster or oral presentation). Any person named as an author on a poster/paper abstract submission who is also put forward for a studentship will be excluded from the studentship draw. It is also not possible to add names to abstract submissions at a later date to ensure that individuals can register for the conference when not successful with a studentship application. Please do not try to beat the system. The whole thing relies on trust.
Studentships are bursaries that will cover the full registration costs (not travel or accommodation) for the conference. Applications should be made to Professor Richard Hastings using the form on the Seattle Club Studentships web page. In the event that the number of applications exceeds the number of studentships available, names will be pulled from a hat to decide the award of the studentships. The deadline for applications for the 2010 Seattle Club Studentships is Friday 1st October 2010, 5pm.
